The things happening there which eventually lead the film to its most dramatic exploitation, were not to be missed. Actually, the first half was not so great. There are many scenes, but don't miss the first scene after interval.

Add one more plus point, which I completely forgot was the beautiful Kashmir. Whole review can be written on that scene only, because it says a lot. Namaaz scene in that portion speaks a lot. The complexity of Majnu has been implanted magically. Because, he has done his part brilliantly. Every reviewer has mentioned about him and his performance. But when he returned in the second half as Majnu is mind blowing. Though both are newcomers, the story and performance is such that we can feel for them.
Tripti is beautiful, adorable and truthful to her lover as well as her father. But only for those who believe in Imtiaz and his stories, or in poetic explanations, or in purity which love brings. This is where the film goes beyond the expectations, beyond the reach of our mental state, beyond all the boundaries. While, here we are seeing possibly the biggest transition a man can have, like Qais to Majnu. And somehow I know why! Because, the transition is important in every film of Ali. In fact, there are many portions when we went to that stages which we had seen in Imtiaz Ali's films. While in Hafiz song, the memory of Sadda Haq pops up in the mind. Ahista is the one song I will remember for giving me one of the strongest goosebumps ever. Thus, songs are literally talking to us so much while in the film, (or even after the movie, too!) and make us fall in love with the story. Not only that, but the lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil. Niladri Kumar and Joi Barua have given absolutely pure music which fits perfectly into the story as well as in Kashmir. Despite having unknown names in music credit, we are having one of the best albums of this year. Imtiaz Ali said in his interview that the music in Laila Majnu film should not have to be average, or below averag. What will happen next in their lives that leads them in to the state of Laila-Majnu, is the thing to look out for. But there is an issue regarding their fathers, so the marriage seems to be impossible.
How a girl named Laila (Tripti), a typical flirt and filmy girl, finds her love interest in a rich-spoiled man Qais, is the startup of the film. Laila Majnu is directed by Sajid Ali, while written by Imtiaz and Sajid. The music is unimpressive with the exception of Koi Pathar sai na marey and so is the dialogue which keeps swinging between Urdu and Hindustani, occasionally threatening to lapse into Bombay Hindi.Adapted from the Persian narrative poem- Layla and Majnun, this film is presented by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Preety Ali, starring Avinash Tiwari and Tripti Damri in lead. As the prince who marries Laila, Danny turns in a sympathetic performance. Rishi Kapoor as Majnu-Kais is effective in serious moments but looks awkward during the song sequences. Ranjeeta makes a convincing Laila, despite being a bit heavy with her dialogue and she manages aided by effective makeup to provide a measure of pathos in her later scenes. The last duel between Kais and Tabrez (Ranjeet), Laila's brother, borders on a caricature. The violent confrontations which should have been telling omens of the impending doom, are reduced to clowning by Kais's friends (Asrani, Paintal, etc.). If the film fails to capture the intensity of love, it fails equally in projecting the hostility between the respective families of the lovers - the main cause behind the tragedy. Perhaps part of the effectiveness of the scene is due to the fact that it comes close, on the heels of a particularly loud 'qawwali' with Kais making a full throated contribution-although you have earlier seen him wandering in the desert for days without food or water.
The lovers' silent meeting at the Dargah captures for a moment the intensity of their love. Next, there is the fantasy sequence, which turns out to be an exercise in matching naive visuals with pedestrian lyrics (written by Sahir Ludhianvi). Later, during his nocturnal visits into Laila's (Ranjeeta) bedroom, he recites verses like one who was doing it without knowing the meaning of the lines. The lovers' first meeting in the market place promises a forceful depiction of the first stirring of love, but, the sequence peters out when you see Kais (Rishi Kapoor) appearing and disappearing as if by magic. Rawail's film generally strikes incongruous notes.
For a tale of intense love and hate, director H. It all makes for an eye-catching pageant, except that the pageant often looks closer to being a comedy than a tragic tale of star-crossed lovers.
